A traumatic brain injury (TBI) occurs when a blow, jolt, or bump to the head disrupts normal brain function. TBIs can range from mild (concussions) to severe, and their effects on the brain can vary widely depending on the severity of the injury. Here are some of the ways a TBI can affect the brain…

The Steps of MeRT Treatment for Traumatic Brain Injury
Your MeRT treatment follows precise protocols. Each step is designed to help you get the best possible results. We are here to support you through your entire journey to reclaim your brain health. The steps of MeRT treatment are:
Step 1
Free Phone Consultation
Before making your decision to begin MeRT treatment, you’ll undoubtedly have questions. That’s why your first step is a simple phone consultation with our New Patient Coordinator.
During this no-obligation consultation, you can ask questions about MeRT, our protocols, fees, and insurance.
If you choose to take the next step, we can then set up your appointments for testing and consultation with a clinician. Each of these appointments takes 45 minutes to an hour.
Step 2
Testing and Consultation Appointments
At the first appointment, our neurotechnician will perform your qEEG. It’s simple, painless, and non-invasive. We will then send the test results to our scientific teams for analysis.
Once we get the analysis back, you will have your second appointment — a one-on-one consultation with your clinician. You can attend this appointment either in person or virtually.
Your clinician will discuss the test results and analysis so you can see exactly what’s happening in your brain to cause your symptoms. You can, of course, ask as many questions as you need to ensure you fully understand the test results and procedure.
At this point, you and your clinician will determine if you are a candidate for MeRT. If so, you will move on to the TMS treatment phase.
Step 3
Treatment Period
Your TMS treatment run approximately 6 weeks, five days per week (Monday-Friday). We perform treatment in two-week increments, and each session takes about 35-45 minutes.
In each session, you simply sit in a comfortable chair while our neurotechnician places a hand-held magnet near your scalp.
We deliver the magnetic impulses for 6-8 seconds each minute, and you’ll have your eyes closed during this time. You may feel a slight sensation, like gentle taps on the head, which is not painful.
Step 4
Monitoring and Follow-up
At the end of your first two-week treatment period, we will perform a new qEEG and compare it to the baseline qEEG. We perform these EEGs at the end of every two weeks of treatment.
Each time, we will note any improvements and make modifications as needed. Your clinician will also meet with you regularly to go over your progress.
At the end of the treatment period, we will perform another qEEG to determine if you are complete with treatment.
Sometimes we recommend additional treatment to get the best possible results. As each brain is unique, each patient responds differently, so treatment protocols may vary.

Insurance Coverage and Payment Options
Currently, rTMS is FDA-cleared for the treatment of Depression. We are able to provide you with all of the appropriate paperwork at the end of your treatment so that you can submit it to your insurance company for reimbursement.
Some patients have reported that they have been able to receive some reimbursement for EEGs, clinical evaluations, and treatment, depending on their health coverage. We accept all major credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover.
